‘Tabatinga has proved to be the perfect compliment for our business. We are particularly pleased to see growth in our membership as well as an improvement in the activity throughout both our restaurants. Most importantly, we have families visiting our community club once again and thoroughly enjoying their experience largely due to the success of Tabatinga.’
Stuart Burrows, General Manager,
Seagulls Leagues Club, Tweed Heads, NSW
‘Gambling Dens!’ It’s worrying that this antiquated description of Clubs is still bandied around. What’s even more worrying, it can sometimes be heard coming from the mouths of incumbent politicians!
Many forward thinking Club executives and managers are currently striving to combat this perception by offering facilities and services geared more towards families and children.
Tabatinga offers Clubs the opportunity to own and run a dedicated family entertainment facility within their Club’s premises.
Objectives met by incorporating a Tabatinga Family Fun Centre as part of the Club’s facilities and services;
What Are The Ongoing License & Marketing Charges?
We use a pre-set fixed monthly license fee which will entitle the Club to the use of all past, present and future Intellectual Property and continued guidance and support from the founders and head office staff. The license fee is calculated on a sliding scale depending on the size of the venue. Once determined, this fee is then fixed* and forms part of the license agreement. (*subject to CPI increases only).
The Tabatinga marketing system is an automated funnel which communicates with customers in multiple mediums (SMS, email, letter, postcard, phone and newsletter) according to their interaction (or lack there-of) with the venue. Being systemized it is run centrally from the brand head office on behalf of each venue. All venues pay a pre-set fixed monthly marketing fee which covers all software license fees, app hosting fees and upgrades, domain name and web site hosting and maintenance services.
As well as the marketing fee, all venues will pay a fixed per item charge for each item of correspondence that is sent by head office on the venue’s behalf. This allows for the large differences in the amount of communication sent out for the larger venue as opposed to a smaller one.
All fees will be negotiated during the initial administration phase of the license arrangement.
How Much Does It Cost To Set Up?
The set up costs vary significantly from site to site due to the size, number and type of attractions to be included. An important aspect of the Tabatinga business model is the mix of attractions that would appeal to a wide age range. This is important to maximize the Drop & Dine, weekend and school holiday revenue opportunities for the Club.
As a guide the Club should expect to spend in the range of $400K to $900k to fit-out your centre. This does not include readying the room that will house the Tabatinga centre or any kitchen and toilet facilities. Tabatinga has successfully worked with Club renovation specialists such as Paynter Dixon to provide quality outcomes that incorporate well into the Club’s other improvements.
How much control over operational decisions does the Club have?
A major advantage of the Tabatinga business model is that the Club will have total control over all business operating decisions. It is anticipated that the Tabatinga business will be used as a promotional tool for the Club and its other services. For example offering discounted Drop & Dine sessions to promote the restaurants and bistros, additional Drop & Dine sessions on badge draw nights, free or discounted use of the facility to other community groups that the Club supports, free VIP passes to children and grandchildren of top tiered Club members, free birthday parties and family passes on prize draw wheels used in Club promotions.
The Tabatinga ongoing support is in the form of the marketing system and supply of branded merchandise and consumables which are not affected by the operational choices of the Club
Can we integrate other existing facilities and staff such as cafés and kitchens?
Often Clubs are looking to change an underutilized function area into a Tabatinga fun centre. These spaces usually have direct access to kitchens and toilets so there would be considerable cost savings in not having to recreate these expensive facilities. Tabatinga will work with existing kitchen and café staff to formulate a menu that would compliment the facilities and skill sets that already exist in the Club. From these discussions a comprehensive Kitchen Bible will be completed with fully costed and ingredient portions to ensure cost of goods fall within acceptable Club standards.
What staff recruitment assistance is offered?
Staff culture is a critical component of the Tabatinga business. Much effort has been put into defining the culture and then documenting this into a trainable series of lessons. This customer service training course will form part of the induction process designed to assist the Club recruit and select the right people to fulfil the duties as Tabatinga staff. Also included is a comprehensive operations manual, recruitment and interview manual and staff handbook complete with all human resource policies and procedures that are required.
What about Club finance and membership data privacy?
Another benefit of the Tabatinga model is that the Club will use its own POS system to take advantage of Club member tracking, stock control, revenue measurement and loyalty point earning and redemption.
Many Tabatinga customers may not be Club members but may wish to remain connected to the Tabatinga business within the Club. Therefore it is necessary to maintain a separate customer database for marketing purposes. This ensures that so there is no possible privacy issues of existing Club member’s information from the existing Club membership system falling into the hands of Tabatinga head office or a third party.
